Kuanzhai Alley Meiyan Fanghua Theatre

宽窄巷子梅燕芳华体验式非遗川剧院始于1980，源自江安县老牌川剧团，杨才友团长深耕梨园非遗四十余载。剧院创新打造一站沉浸式观赏非遗、体验非遗、带走非遗，塑造可赏、可学、可体验的活态戏曲阵地，让千年川剧风华永续流传。

Founded in 1980, the Kuanzhai Alley Meiyan Fanghua Theatre — an experiential intangible cultural heritage Sichuan Opera theatre — traces its origins to the time-honoured Sichuan Opera troupe of Jiang'an County. Troupe director Yang Caiyou has devoted himself to the intangible cultural heritage of the operatic stage for over four decades. The theatre has pioneered an immersive one-stop experience that lets audiences watch, experience and take home intangible cultural heritage, building a living operatic hub to be appreciated, learned and experienced — ensuring that the timeless splendour of a thousand years of Sichuan Opera endures for generations to come.

作为整场演出的开篇，《成都赋》采用宏大的音舞诗画演绎形式，于方寸舞台间凝练呈现成都从古至今的历史更迭、风土人情与人文积淀，为整场演出铺就雅致格调。

adopts a grand integrated presentation of music, dance and poetic imagery. On the compact stage, it distils Chengdu's historical evolution, local customs and cultural legacy across ages, setting an elegant tone for the whole performance.

Female Warrior – Essence of Martial-style Opera: Sharp Moves, Resounding Momentum

A classic excerpt from Sichuan martial-style opera. Dancers don ornate back-streamers and hold long spears, executing demanding sequences including somersaults, leaps, tumbles and stage combat. Their movements are crisp and dashing, techniques precise, and presence powerful and forceful, fully revealing the heroic spirit of Sichuan martial opera and the performers' solid craft.

Pi Jin Rolls the Lamp – Classic Sichuan Opera Comedy: Witty, Humorous & Highly-Interactive

Rolling the Lamp

is one of Sichuan Opera's most representative comedies. The frivolous young man Pi Jin neglects household duties and is punished by his wife: he must roll about with a lit oil lamp balanced on his head. He dives under stools and tumbles dynamically, demonstrating extraordinary skill while keeping the flame alight. This farcical piece vividly portrays the well-known "hen-pecked husband" archetype, playfully depicting the everyday warmth of Bashu families who cherish and care for their loved ones. It merges one-of-a-kind stunts with authentic Sichuan-flavoured comedy. Demanding great technical mastery from performers, it readily engages spectators and lifts the mood, earning its place as the true joy-bringer of the Sichuan Opera stage.

Swallow-Shaped Spring – Elegance of the Long-Spout Teapot

Echoing the theatre's name "Meiyan Fanghua", long-spout teapots pour flowing springs as tea art narrates timeless grace. Long-spout teapot art is an icon of Sichuan tea culture. Tea artisans wield bronze teapots over one metre long, performing traditional feats such as the Eighteen Forms of the Dragon. Movements are free-flowing, balancing power and softness with striking artistic beauty. During the show, audience members may be invited on-stage to experience the craft, immersing themselves in the laid-back cultural allure of Chengdu life.

The Eight Tactics Formation – War-Fire and Glory

Clashes of arms unfold on the stage of the Kuanzhai Alley Meiyan Fanghua Theatre; resounding gongs and drums herald peerless splendour. Drawing from the legendary Three-King-Era Eight Tactics battle formation, the piece integrates Sichuan Opera armour dance and weapon-handling skills. Armoured generals engage in duels; formations shift like arcane tactical schemes. Blades and spears whirl amid thunderous percussion. Within the limited stage space, it dramatises the manoeuvres and conflicts of the Eight-Diagram maze formation, demonstrating the formidable vigour of Sichuan martial opera and consummate Bashu performing craft.

The intangible-cultural-heritage stunts of Sichuan Opera face-changing and fire-spitting take centre-stage. Masks transform in the blink of an eye; fire blazes skywards, presenting iconic Bashu wonders at Kuanzhai Alley Meiyan Fanghua Theatre. Synonymous with Sichuan Opera, face-changing and fire-spitting serve as the grand finale.
