《步行距离》是对音乐统一性的一次探索
——
一场穿越多元音乐类型的旅程，这些类型尽管各异，却依然紧密相连。专辑融合了后波普爵士、阿拉伯音乐、拉丁律动、蓝调、放克以及迦纳音乐的节奏影响，形成了一种听觉上的映射，反映出文化边界之间的距离远比看上去要近得多。它们，从字面意义上讲，不过是“步行可及的距离”。
每首作品的灵感都源于日常体验
——
穿梭于人类生活的熙攘与忙碌之中。行走、驾驶、查看与目的地的距离：这些是将我们所有人联系在一起的普世活动。

Peter Somuah is a gifted trumpeter who learned to play by listening endlessly to his trumpet heroes Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard and Roy Hargrove. Somuah stands out with his warm and melancholic sound, as well as the rhythmic prowess reflecting his upbringing surrounded by the music styles native to West Africa. He touches his audiences and makes them groove.

In 2021 Somuah won the Erasmus Jazz award for young jazz talent, and in 2022 he won the prestigious Edison Jazz Award with his debut album Outer Space. In June 2024, Somuah worked on a project with the WDR Big Band playing his own compositions, arranged and conducted by the musical cosmopolitan Michael Mossman.

In his compositions, Somuah explores the boundaries between jazz, funk, soul and traditional Ghanaian music, sprinkled with a hint of electronic music. Jens Meijer graduated from Codarts Rotterdam in 2020 and is a drummer. Encouraged by teachers such as Joost Patocka and Mark Schilders, Meijer further developed his musical vision and incorporated his interest in philosophy and conceptual thinking into his compositions. Since 2020, Jens has been a member of Batavierhuis, a talent development base in Rotterdam, and has participated in tours throughout Europe.

Bass - Marijn van de Ven
Marijn van de Ven is a bassist who studied jazz double bass in the Netherlands under Clemens van der Feen, Hein van de Geyn and Stefan Lievestro. During his studies, he collaborated with the Netherlands National Youth Jazz Orchestra and performed alongside renowned musicians such as Benjamin Herman, Gregory Porter and Ben van Gelder, participating in countless concerts as a sideman in the Netherlands and surrounding regions. After graduation, he participated in multiple performance projects, such as playing tango music with Ben van den Dungen's Tango Extremo, performing traditional jazz in theater shows with New York 'Round Midnight, touring Austria multiple times playing modern jazz, playing free/ambient jazz with Pascal Vermeer's Akasha, playing more rock-oriented music with Liberati Quartet, performing experimental jazz in concert series at Brebl in Nijmegen, playing pop jazz with the trio Beatlemania, and playing jazz/funk and Afrobeat with trumpeter Peter Somuah. Marijn is a sought-after musician who has toured with numerous albums to Brazil, Ghana and most of Western Europe. In addition, he co-leads the trio Vehikel, driving the band forward with great passion and desire for the jazz art form.

Keyboards - Anton de Bruin
Anton de Bruin, born in 1998, completed his bachelor's degree in popular keyboard at Codarts Rotterdam in 2019, after which he began his career as a keyboardist, producer, composer, arranger and educator. His most notable projects include the new pop quartet Dragonfruit as keyboardist, producer and composer, with whom he has extensively toured throughout the Netherlands, performing at festivals and clubs. He has produced music as a backing musician on stage for jazz trumpeter Peter Somuah and also has his own electronic jazz ensemble Imaginarium. As an educator, Anton de Bruin has been teaching at music schools for 6 years and has held various masterclasses at universities in the Netherlands and abroad. These masterclasses have covered workshops on keyboard performance, business Q&A sessions, and guidance on band recordings and live performances.
